This chapter describes and analyzes SM relationships between white men and African men in the neighborhood. A brief genealogy is given of racialized portrayals of leathersex in the North American gay community, expanding on previous discussions of the hyper-masculinized portrayals of the black body. Perhaps not surprisingly, the majority of SM relationships in Atlantic Africa center on white men role-playing the “slave.” The chapter goes on to discuss how these symbolic issues are portrayed online.
