“The Integrated Subject” explores the composition of an environmental architecture graduate degree in Mumbai. Its focus is on the history and social life of curricular design at Rachana Sansad Institute for Environmental Architecture. Faculty members recount their roles in forging the program, and their mission as a pedagogical collective. The chapter shows that training in environmental architecture at the Institute involved both a curriculum that integrates ecology and architectural techniques and a social world from which each practitioner ideally emerged with an integrated subjectivity.
