Robert Matsuda is a violinist who has contributed to film and television scores since 1996, including the feature film The Horse Whisperer and the blockbuster television series Lost. A member of the Union of Professional Musicians, Local 47 in Los Angeles, Matsuda recalls the heydays of motion picture musicians and describes the ways in which producers have moved much of the work overseas or resorted to licensed pop songs or computer-generated music.
